READING

This week we are practicing creating questions over what we read.  Good readers are always checking their comprehension to ensure that they understand what they have read.  We are stopping while we read and either asking questions over the content or flagging unfamiliar words.  We are also practicing visualizing while we read.  We are reading an article about Veterans Day.  We are also reading the story "Mighty Jackie" in our reader. 

GRAMMAR

This week will be the last week on simple predicates.  We will work with compound sentences as well as identifying fragment and run-on sentences. 

WRITING

This week we will mainly be working on our Saint Reports.  See Projects Tab for a description.

MATH

We have been working in Chapter 3 over Addition and Subtraction.  We began by practicing our addition skills with adding 2 addends with 4 or more digits.  We also practiced adding 3 or more addends.  Next week we will focus on subtracting with regrouping. 

We also began working in Chapter 6 over Measurement.  We are beginning with the U.S. Customary System.  We have practiced measure to the nearst 1/4 in.  We also practiced renaming units of length.  This week we will be working with capacity and weight. 

RELIGION

We have been working on Chapters 5 and 6.  Our test over Chapters 5 and 6 will be Wednesday, November 21.

SOCIAL STUDIES

We will be using our Indiana Studies Weekly and learning about the Mound Builders.   This coincides with our textbook and will be moving into Unit 2 on Early Indiana.  We will be learning about the earliest people of Indiana. 

SPELLING

Unit 2 Week 3 Complex Consonant Clusters

While I am away on my maternity leave, we will have Mr. Mike Stickann as our substitute.  He will be shadowing our class for the next week to get to know the students as well as the schedule.
